It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a weather balloon!!!

Last Saturday morning around 7:30 AM, Miss Pongetti's father was out checking his fields.
He saw a piece of orange plastic and assumed it was just some trash that had blown onto his field.

Well ... when he picked it up,
he realized it was actually a weather balloon  released by the National Weather Service!

How cool is that !?!?!?

Mr. Pongetti knew we recently finished a unit on weather.
He also knew it would be a real treat to share his unique discovery with us.

Miss Pongetti checked out the information about "our " weather balloon.
It was released from  Shreveport, Louisiana on Friday, April 19 and was found last Saturday, April 20 around 7:30 a.m.
That's 243 miles from here!

The balloon is on its way back to the National Weather Service so they can use the information to predict changes in the atmosphere, the air pressure, temperature, and humidity!

Thank you, Mr. Pongetti!
