Home Sweet Home!

On Friday, October 4th,  our class enjoyed traveling north, south, east, and west
around our awesome Cleveland community.

We began by heading south to the U.S. Post Office in Boyle.
Mrs. Kyle's husband, John, is the postmaster there!

Earlier this week, we wrote letters to some of our favorite PDS teachers.

At the post office, we purchased our stamps.

Then, we dropped our letters in the collection box.

Thank you, Mr. Kyle!

Hey, fabulous PDS teachers!  You've got mail!  :)

Our next stop was the Delta State University Sculpture Garden.

Mrs. Nan Sanders greeted us with a warm smile!

She shared  how the garden fulfills the dream of a dear friend
and interesting  facts about several of the sculptures.

Thank you, Mrs. Sanders, for showing us this treasure - right across the street from our school!

Full of inspiration, we hit the trail again.
Our next adventure was waiting at Riverside Air, LLC in Shelby.

Bylar's dad, Mr. Lyle Malloy had a perfect spot prepared for us to eat lunch!

After lunch, we had the opportunity to check out his crop duster from the pilot's seat!!!!

Mr. Lyle even took Miss Pongetti and Mrs. Leininger for a ride!!!

Take a look at this!

and this!!!

Woohoo!

Thank you, Mr. Lyle! We had a GREAT time!!!

You may be thinking the field trip was over... but, no -
Pongetti and Chicorelli Farms were ready for us, too!

We were back on the  road again!

We rode all kinds of farm equipment!

We also played with seeds - corn, soybeans, rice, and wheat!
Our plastic bags were overflowing!

Mrs. Amy and Mrs. Melissa rode with Miss Pongetti's brother, Allen, to cut some soybeans.
Then, we watched the process of getting the soybeans from the field into the grain bin.

That was so cool!

One last photo op on a combine ended our time on the farm.

Thank you Mr. Gary, Mr. Allen, and Mr. Charles
for sharing your time and your farm with us! It was super fun!

Finally, we returned to PDS -
hot, a little tired, hopefully a little wiser, and happy, happy, happy!

Many  thanks to all of our gracious hosts
and to our parents who accompanied us on such a special field trip!
